Green Color Plants add a burst of color to any landscape

Spiraea japonica

The Japanese Spiraea is a shrub with leaves that change their color as the season's pass. The plant is drought tolerant and grows for 4 to 6 feet in height and as wide as you allow it to grow without pruning. The plant produces beautiful, scented pink flowers in early summer and will attract butterflies and bees when the flowers bloom.

The Japanese Spiraea does well in rich loamy soils. It requires total sun exposure and medium moisture in well-drained soils.

Nikko Blue Hydrangea

The Nikko Blue Hydrangea is a classic hydrangea plant with bountiful, beautiful blossoms. The plant can grow to be 6 feet in height, but all this depends on the plant's amount of sunlight. The plant may stay short and resemble a large perennial with little sunlight. The flowers first appear in July and persist for months.

Hydrangeas prefer rich, moist, well-draining soils. The soil's pH determines the color of the flowers. The bushes bear blue flowers in acidic soil and pink flowers in alkaline soils.

Japanese Snowball

With its lacy white globes of flower clusters, the Viburnum plicatum is a lovely shrub to have in your garden. The Japanese Snowball grows to a height of 8 to 15 feet and is bushy when it is not pruned. These plants flower heavily in spring at around May or April, with the flowers reaching up to 4 inches when fully bloomed.

The Japanese Snowball is a low-maintenance plant requiring slightly acidic and well-drained soils. Once established, the Japanese Snowball is drought tolerant, but it will require generous irrigation before it is fully established.

Adding green plants to an already colorful garden can make your garden even more vibrant

Blue Vervain

The wild hyssop (Verbena hastata) is a medicinal herb in cool and cold areas. The plant grows in moist soils and has spiky purple blooms from midsummer to early autumn. The plant attracts many pollinators and may serve you best in a butterfly garden or a rain garden. Once established, the plant requires little care and may require mulching before it is fully established.
